The Trathen (トラッセン族, Torassen-zoku?) are a tribe in the Star Ocean series that can be found in the southern continent of the planet Aster IV, Nihlbeth. They are sentient, humanoid in appearance but with peculiarities: purplish skin, hair with various shades of purple to white, the ability to extend the limbs of their body at will, and the ability to change their biological gender (性別, seibetsu?) through conscious will. Not only do they reproduce sexually, but they also preserve their genes by separating their nucleus, called osseous cores. They are able to use semiomancy and are considered one of the most powerful races on Nihlbeth.
