The Incarnation of Devil

"The Incarnation of Devil" is a recurring battle theme in the Star Ocean series. It plays in superboss battles against Celestial Beings throughout the series, with exception of the first game, during which "Tense Atomosphere" plays instead of this track.

Appearances

The Second Story

"The Incarnation of Devil" first appears as the battle theme when you fight Lucifer at Phynal. It later appears when fighting Gabriella Celeste in the Maze of Tribulations.

Till the End of Time

In Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, this theme plays again in the battle against Ethereal Queen.

The Last Hope

In Star Ocean: The Last Hope, the song is remixed into "The Incarnation of Devil (Next-Gen Remix)", which plays once more in the fights against Gabriel Celesta, Ethereal Queen, and Ashlay Bernbeldt.

Integrity and Faithlessness

In Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness, "Incarnation of Devil" makes a return, playing during the fights against Gabriel Celeste and Ethereal Queen. The version of the song is nearly identical to the version that plays in The Last Hope.

• An arrangement of "Incarnation of Devil" appears in Valkyrie Profile, and its PSP port, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, in the battle against Gabriel Celeste.
• In Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria, a piano improvisation plays in the battle against Ethereal Queen.
• In Radiata Stories, a new version arranged by Noriyuki Iwadare (known for his work on the Grandia and Lunar series), plays in the battle against Ethereal Queen in the game's bonus dungeon. The original soundtrack refers to it as "The Incarnation of Devil ~ Radiata Ver."
