Tatroi (タトローイ, Tatorōi?) is a city that appears both in Star Ocean, its remake First Departure, and Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Located in the center of the Astralian Continent on Roak, it is a mandatory stop to travelers who are travelling to Astral City, either by ferry or through the Astral Caves, and is home to a famous colosseum.

Story[]
In S.D. 10, the crew of the SRF-003 Calnus arrive at Tatroi upon landing on Roak. There they meet a Featherfolk woman being attacked by a group of masked men. Edge Maverick rescues the Featherfolk who introduces herself as Sarah Jerand. Suddenly, Reimi Saionji, Edge's right hand, falls to the ground, and is revealed to have been infected with the Stone Sickness. The group moves to the inn, so as to put Reimi to rest. Sarah then suggests the party to speak with the King of Astral at Astral City, as he has access to the Stone Sickness's cure.
In S.D. 46, Tatroi is briefly visited by Roddick Farrence and Ilia Silvestri, who are on their way to Astral City. In case Cyuss Warren hasn't been recruited, Ashlay Bernbeldt can be found at the Arena. After completing a tournament at the arena, he can be found at the docks. T'nique Arcana will join the party if it has six or less members, if he is defeated in Rank D after obtaining the Van Emblem.

Gameplay[]
Appearing in both Star Ocean/First Departure and The Last Hope, Tatroi offers different options in each game, including the challenges at the Arena. Pickpocketing targets and rewards also differ. In the former, Tatroi offers three shops in addition to a Skill Guild, as well as Puffy's game, and nine private actions (PA10, PA13, PA14, PA26, PA63, PA82, PA85, PA86, and PA87).
Whereas in The Last Hope, there are seven shops, plus Chaz's and Ruddle's unlockable shops; regarding quests, there are 8 to complete ("The Seafarer's Treasure", "Missing Brother", "Crazy for Grape Juice", "The Shoddy Doll", "In Search of Anessa", and "The First/Second/Third Errand" quests) and 29 shop orders in total.
