Roddick's mom (ラティクスの母, Ratikusu no Haha?) is the mother of Roddick Farrence and a minor character in Star Ocean and its remake Star Ocean: First Departure, only appearing briefly at the beginning of the story. Her husband, who trained Roddick in the art of one-handed Edarl swordsmanship, passed away years before S.D. 346.
While Roddick and his friends Millie Chliette and Dorne Murtough are patrolling the town as per their Kratus Defense Force duties, she can be found at their house's kitchen and asks how their patrol is going. Later on, after they defeat a group of bandits led by Baird, she prepares tea for the trio when they spend the evening at her house. Millie notices that Roddick looks a little off, and Roddick's mom observes that he has been moping around all the time lately.
The following morning, she notices that her son may have had trouble falling asleep, but Roddick says he is fine and tells her to stop worrying so much. She returns to the kitchen. If talked to, she tells her son to take care, but Roddick tells her not to worry as surely his dad is watching over him.
