Raymond Lawrence (レイモンド・ローレンス, Reimondo Rōrensu?), shortened to Ray (レイ, Rei?), is one of the two protagonists of Star Ocean: The Divine Force. Working for his family's company Lawrence Logistics, he is captain of the merchant vessel Ydas. After an attack by the Astoria, he is separated from his trusted crew, landing on Aster IV.

Story[]
In S.D. 583, Raymond and his crew are on a standard transport mission when the Ydas abruptly gunned down by the Astoria, a Pangalactic Federation battleship with a member of the esteemed Kenny family onboard. Saved by Elena, Raymond and Chloe are forced to abandon ship amidst the chaos and their escape pods head for the underdeveloped planet of Aster IV. During descent, his pod is shot down, and ends up crash-landing somewhere far from Chloe. There, he soon meets a young lady with a mission, Laeticia Aucerius, and her knight, Albaird Bergholm.

Raymond has a big heart, affable nature, and a good nose for business. However, his confidence often sees him rushing recklessly into situations when it comes to his friends and work, much to the distress of his subordinates. Hailing from a non-federated planet, Raymond is not bound by the Underdeveloped Planet Preservation Pact and chooses to meet others with sincere openness regardless of their technological advancement.
Gameplay[]
One of the initial party members available to the player in The Divine Force, Raymond's playstyle consists of damaging the enemy via powerful strikes with a greatsword. His Vatting attack alongside D.U.M.A. is called Extreme Daredevil.
