Pericci (ペリシー, Perishī?, lit. Perisie) is one of the main characters of the first Star Ocean, as well as its remake Star Ocean: First Departure. She is of the Lesser Fellpool race, uncommonly seen on Roak, and can transform into a cat. She is quite innocent and naïve, and loves her ocarina dearly.

Story[]
Due to unknown circumstances, in S.D. 46, Pericci (birth name unknown) is being held captive by pirates on the Astral continent until the party defeats her captors, who are blockading the port. At their cave, they save her and she leaves. She drops her ocarina, but Roddick picks it up.
In Kratus, she is in her cat form when she crosses paths with the party again. Millie—thinking Pericci is just a cat—pets her and asks Roddick to suggest a name for it. Roddick suggests "Pericci", and while Millie isn't a fan of the name, the little cat is. Afterward, Roddick plays the Ocarina, which causes Pericci to turn into her Fellpool form. Surprised at this sudden turn of events, she demands her ocarina back, but Roddick instead asks if she would like to travel with them. When he shows her how many friends she could make, she gladly follows Roddick, much to Millie's annoyance.
On their way to Silvalant, the party recruits T'nique Arcana and pass by a village named Durss, learning that the entrance to the Demon World is nearby. At Silvalant Castle, the party meets with the King of Silvalant. He gives them a emblem to access the Old Race Ruins (where Mavelle transfers her soul back into her original body if Ioshua and Ashlay encourage her) and access to the port.
The party then travels to Muah castle, where after a trial their are given another emblem, and then arrive at Astral, where the King of Astral entrusts the emblem of Astral and some cryptic passages that have been passed down through generations. The party returns to the Purgatorium and shows the four emblems to the guardian spirits, who transport them into the inner sanctum. They learn of the Muah and their connection to Earth (Ronyx and Ilia's homeworld) and the Eye of Truth. The party retrieves the Eye and returns to Silvalant. At the king's behest, they are to head to the Demon World when they learn that Durss was destroyed by a massive weapon developed by the demons.
The party arrives inside of the demon world, where they are greeted by the Crimson Shield. They defeat him, achieving Erys' vengeance, and later his shadow before he can secure "the bladeless swords" from Lias Warren in Astral City. There, Phia offers her services to the party. The gorup then enters Asmodeus' stronghold. While Ilia tries to hack its computer, Asmodeus' henchmen attack the party, while he runs away. The party is chasing Asmodeus when two men detain him and take a blood sample and leave. Ilia, Roddick, Ronyx, and Millie (who are from the future) that those men must have been the ones to originally kill Asmodeus, so they kill the demon in order not to change history. They take a blood sample for their own use. After they are praised by the King of Van, the four time-travellers return to their proper time (S.D. 346), leaving Pericci and the others behind.
Not before long, however, Ronyx and Ilia are authorized by their superiors in the Federation military to put down the uprising of planet Fargett's dictator Jie Revorse. The two officers, Roddick and Millie, use once again the Time Gate on Styx and retrieve Pericci and the others. They all travel to Fargett, where they are captured by Jie's forces. They are subsequently rescued by the Resistance and their leader Yvena. With renewed vigor, the party storms Revorse Tower and defeat the dictator once and for all.
Their mission complete, Pericci and the others Roakians return to their proper timeline after saying their goodbyes to Ronyx, Ilia, Millie and Roddick. Now back in S.D. 46, Pericci stands alone atop a cliff, calling out to the sea. She asks Millie how she is doing, then grows sad and wishes Roddick was there with her.
Sometime later, Pericci and the others meet up atop Mt. Metorx. They come together to plant a sapling in hopes that Roddick and Millie will see it in the future. Ashlay places his sword in the dirt by it and Pericci, her Ocarina. Erys uses symbology to slow time for the tree and items, so that it grows at a pace where it will survive for over 300 years. Ultimately, Roddick and Millie are able to see the great tree.
Profile[]
Pericci seems innocent and naive, but is also apprehensive of others. In truth, she is really lonely and only wants friends. She is also quite affectionate towards Roddick and has an irrational hatred of dogs, claiming that one tried to eat her once (when in fact the dog was being friendly to her).
Gameplay[]
In Star Ocean and Star Ocean: First Departure, Pericci is a physical fighter who uses knuckles to attack the enemy, but also dances in order to support the party with various effects. Through Pericci the player can obtain the Bunny Whistle to travel across the World Map on a Bunny, which is faster than on foot while completely avoiding enemy encounters.
She also makes a playable appearance in Star Ocean: Anamnesis, and has three variants: "Pericci", "Naive Pericci", and "Winter Pericci".

Trivia[]
- Meracle Chamlotte from Star Ocean: The Last Hope is inspired by Pericci, even having the Ocarina skill as a reference. Likewise, so may be Peppita Rossetti, who shares many of her skills with Pericci.
