The Mastery (マスタリー, Masutarī?) system is a gameplay feature in Star Ocean: Anamnesis that allows a character to teach one of their Talents to others, which can be done by accessing the "Mastery" option in the Characters menu.
Overview[]
A character innately possessing a Talent with the tag just above the description can teach it to others characters in the course of five sessions. When the process is complete, both master (師匠?) and pupil (弟子?) will be linked—the pupil having learned the Talent—, and the player will receive a Mastery Pass Medal.
For the process, one must pick a empty slot, select a unit that has a Mastery Talent, and select a pupil. In the training session, there will be a total five steps in order to complete it. The player can pick one of three missions and pay the required materials, of which their color will vary according to the character's Role, or instead use Pass Medals to omit the training session.
- ? (強化訓練?) - x85 - Cost: 10,000 → 20,000 → 40,000 → 75,000 → 120,000
- ? (実技訓練?) - x35 - Cost: Same as above.
- ? (精神訓練?) - x15 - Cost: 2,000 → 4,000 → 8,000 → 15,000 → 24,000
- ? (紋章科学講座?) - x10 - Cost: Same as above.
- ? (戦術講座?) - x1 - Cost: Same as 1 and 2 above.
The conditions for a training session are the following: both master and pupil have to be of the same role, the pupil has to be Level 70, a master can only teach one pupil and a pupil can only have one master, and there will be no refund for FOL and other materials used during the training session if the player decides to unlink. Unlinking will also cause the pupil to lose the talent. Character who have successfully mastered a talent will display a medal SOA Mastery medal icon.png under their role icon.
