Martoth Chliette (マルトス・キリート, Marutosu Kirīto?, lit. Martos Kiliet) is a minor character in Star Ocean and its remake, Star Ocean: First Departure. He is a symbologist from Kratus who specializes in healing symbols, and works as the town's healer. He is Millie's father and wishes her to inherit his legacy.
Story[]
The Captain of the Kratus Defense Force receives a letter from the Mayor of Coule, in which he asks the Defense Force to send help immediately. There is a mystery outbreak and the residents are suffering from high fever. The captain summons Millie, Roddick Farrence and Dorne Murtough to come up with a plan. Millie suggests that the herbs that grow on Mt. Metorx can help the vaillagers, but Martoth intervenes and asks them to leave the matter to him.
He tells Millie he will be back in a little while, and warns the trio to stay away from Mt. Metorx. Martoth believes is nothing to worry about, says he will call if he needs help, and heads to Coule in order to investigate.
However, he doesn't return in two days, worrying Millie. Having contracted the disease himself, Martoth sends a pigeon that Dorne receives and reads aloud. Coule is done for and Martoth forbids them to approach the village under any circumstances. Millie comes running to see him, followed by Roddick and Dorne. Martoth tells Millie not to touch him and says goodbye to her, and asks Roddick and Dorne to take the crying Millie back to Kratus to protect her.
Presumably, like the other victims of the disease, Martoth returns to normal after the cure is developed—obtained after the ordeal that Millie, Roddick, and the Earthlings Ilia Silvestri and Ronyx J. Kenny go through to obtain a blood sample of the original host.
