Luther's Descent (創造主ルシファー降臨, Sōzōnushi Rushifā Kōrin?, lit. Creator Lucifer's Descent) is a standard boss event in Star Ocean: Anamnesis. Its story is continued from the event The Executioner Attacks.
The featured characters are Fayt and Sophia. Defeating the boss yields the titles 4☆ "Witness of Doom" (終焉の見届け人, Shūen no Mitodoke Hito?) and 5☆ "Prophet of Doom" (終焉の始まりを知る者, Shūen no Hajimari o Shiru mono?).
Story[]
Upon their return to the ship, Coro tells Evelysse and the Captain that the GFSS-3214F was blasted over 200 years into the future: the year 772 S.D. and that they are on a underdeveloped planet—Elicoor II—that the Pangalactic Federation has yet to discover in their time. Coro theorizes that they either traveled through space-time, or maybe into a different dimension. Per the Captain's plan, they decide to go through the black hole again in hopes of returning to their proper time. As they do so, Evelysse notices that it is not swallowing only the ship but all of space-time itself.
They end up in Spiral Tower, and Evelysse wonders if they are dead, and whether this is heaven or hell. A man, Luther Lansfeld, says they are in neither and commands them to be destroyed. It is time to pay for their crimes and be deleted, he says and calls them "virus scum". Fayt Leingod, however, intervenes as do Sophia Esteed and Maria Traydor. The trio vows that they won't allow him to delete their world, even if he is the Creator, as they aren't simple toys.
Luther is thus defeated, and cannot accept the outcome. He decides to turn everything into nothingness by completely deleting all the data of the Eternal Sphere. He falls, leaving the party to see as the world begins to disappear. Fayt, Maria and Sophia refuse to go down, but Coro and Evelysse disappear and the screen turns black. The Captain is at the ship once again. As if nothing happened, Evelysse tells the Captain s/he will catch a cold if they sleep in a place like the bridge. Apparently, Coro had the same 'nightmare' just then while in forced sleep mode. Furthermore, they are back at their original time, along with the ship. Leaving the mysterious events inside the black hole behind, they resume their journey towards Earth.
