Kronos is an organization that rivals the Pangalactic Federation, although they are at peace due to a treaty. Kronos is in control of the Kappa Sector, with its central government located on the fourth planet in the Omphalos System.

Kronos has extremely advanced technology, often matching or exceeding that of the Federation in some areas. One of its faction, the one led by General Alma, has made groundbreaking advances in symbometrics as a means to combat the Federation.

Dictionary Entry[]

Kronos
Surveyors from the Pangalactic Federation first made contact with this organization in SD 521. Its central government is located just outside federation borders in Kappa Sector on the fourth planet in the Omphalos System, but has also begun to inhabit the third and fifth planets. The group has gained traction in a few nearby systems, but its borders remain roughly 5,000 light years from Faykreed.
Kronos's technology—especially that related to warp engines—can hold its own against that of the federation's. This, along with the fact that Kronos is by nature aggressive, caused the federation to draw up a peace agreement soon after they met.
Most, however, believe the agreement is more than a makeshift armistice that can be reneged upon at any moment. What has the federation particularly concerned is Kronos's secrecy; it has taken no steps to foster diplomatic relations, and there is almost no meaningful communication between the two powers. Reports have recently come in, though, stating they are concentrating academic resources on a field called symbometrics.

Story[]

Spoilers, plot and/or ending details follow. (skip)

Possibly founded on the fourth planet of the Omphalos System, Kronos's central government has operated in secrecy since its inception, which is the reason why the Pangalactic Federation did not known about the organization until S.D. 521. Due to Kronos' aggressive stance, the federation drew up a peace agreement soon after they met.

Since its 'discovery', Kronos gained traction in a few nearby systems, but its borders remained roughly 5,000 light years from Faykreed. Nevertheless, a faction led by General Alma (who vehemently opposes the Federation) decided to use the underdeveloped Faykreed as a research site for symbological experiments. They created a facility, where they performed experiments involving the "imbuement" of children with spacetime symbols to try to grant them incredible powers. All but two of their test subjects—the twin sisters Relia and Feria—died during the process.

In addition to creating these spacetime manipulating "symbomorphs", Kronos created what the Faykreedians refer as "Corrupts". These corrupts are actually normal Faykreedian animals imbued with symbols, granting them great power but mutating and disfiguring them to become their grotesque forms. They also armed the Trei'kur military with phasers to give them an advantage in their war against Resulia.

Their activities go uninterrupted until a shuttle crash lands near Fidel Camuze, freeing Relia. From the onwards, Alma's faction spend all of their time attempting to recapture her. After the party retrieves Feria, believing she is Relia, they are intercepted by General Alma before they are able to remove her "signets" (which are actually symbols and cannot be removed anyway). He disables Feria before she can activate her powers and captures her once again, leaving the party with neither sister.

Once in posession of the Chales D. Goale "G", the party chases down the Kronos battleship believed to be carrying the twins. After defeating the ship in combat and boarding it, they find Relia, but Feria is nowhere to be found. The party heads to the Symbological Research Facility on Faykreed and search for Feria, where they find she is being held. This was all a plot by Alma, however, as Fidel and his friends are being observed to see how Relia's psywaves act when her powers activate. Alma's scientists uncover the secret to activating the sisters' powers at will and escape with Feria.

Trivia[]

  • The reason why the Alma's scientist gave phasers to Trei'kur is not exactly clear, except that perhaps Kronos scientists enjoyed toying with and experimenting on the people of Faykreed.
