Ilia Silvestri (イリア・シルベストリ, Iria Shirubesutori?, lit. Iria Silvestoli) is one of the main characters of Star Ocean, as well as its remake Star Ocean: First Departure. Ilia is Head Science Officer of the starship Calnus, and Captain Ronyx J. Kenny's subordinate and right-hand woman.

Story[]
Ilia is the head Science officer on the Earth Federation Starship Calnus. Her captain is Ronyx J. Kenny. She was involved in the Roak incident which the game is based on. She appears with Ronyx on Mt. Metorx, while the Kratus trio are trying to find a herb to save the Coule citizens. They take the three aboard on the Calnus with them, and they attempt to save Dorne, but they fail and he is petrified.
She is the third to enter the Time Gate, as she tripped and fell and Roddick caught her. They land near ancient Kratus, and journey to reunite with Millie and Ronyx. They recruit warriors to their cause, and she is often jealous of Mavelle Froesson. When the party defeats Asmodeus, she helps Ronyx round up the party. If the player activates numerous private actions, an ending will play out when the two return to the Calnus and Ronyx proposes to her. Throughout the game, she has drinking contests with either Ashlay or Cyuss. Depending on how high her Affinity is for Roddick by the end of the game, she hints that she may have harbored some feelings for him before parting with Ronyx.
In Welch's ending, it is heavily hinted that Ilia has already married Ronyx and had their son, Claude. Not too long after, Ilia also reports her discovery of symbology, referring to the academic field as "symbometrics". In Integrity and Faithlessness, she is known to have reported her findings as Professor Ilia Kenny. According to her profile entry in Star Ocean: Anamnesis, she also started working at a symbology institute on Roak.

Being young as she is, Ilia is highly intelligent to be head science officer on the Calnus. She has a playful side to her as well, as noted by her passion for alcoholic beverages. She is also noted to have romantic feelings for Ronyx and is sometimes prone to jealousy when she suspects him of paying attention to other women.
After battle, Ilia has a habit of rating the party's performance on a scale of one to ten. Claude also has this habit, as well as several of her moves such as Palm of Destruction, showing her influence on him.
Gameplay[]
In Star Ocean and its remake Star Ocean: First Departure, Ilia is a martial artist who attacks enemies with her fists and kicks. She is a non-optional party member, and the one who remain the longest in the party after Roddick. She is able to equip knuckles, leather armor, and martial arts gis.
She also makes a playable appearance in Star Ocean: Anamnesis, as a knuckle user and 5-7☆ Attacker.

- Ilia is one of two characters whose favorite food—in her case, Crazy Cow—requires a character age 20 or older to make. The other is Cyuss.
- In First Departure, Ilia's field sprites and animations are based off her son, Claude C. Kenny, as well Bowman Jeane, from Second Evolution.
- There are some discrepancies between the timeline of First Departure and Claude's listed date of birth. Essentially, Ilia had to have been pregnant during the final dungeons of the game due to the time skip.
- Due to her love for alcoholic drinks, fans sometimes speculate her as a semi-alcoholic or that she is very good at holding her liquor. Her descendant Emmerson T. Kenny, from Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness, shares Ilia's love of alcohol.
