Ice Needles is a recurring Symbology spell in the Star Ocean series. It's the elementar water-elemental symbol, which throws spikes of ice towards an enemy.

Tome of Ice Needles[]
Upon the many tomes, books, texts, and other documents in the Runological Library of Castle Aquaria in Aquios is the Tome of Ice Needles which explains to the reader about the symbol required to cast the Ice Needles symbology magic.
Excerpt[]
Ice Needles is invoked using the water rune. It starts by producing icicles by temporarily decreasing runological force around the invoker. It then creates a path between the invoker and the target wherein the runological force is higher than the surrounding environment, and launches the icicles along that path.

Anyone can learn Ice Needles by equipping the Common Attack Symbols skill and costs 10 MP to envoke. Sophia, Nel, and Adray learn it through leveling. The spell also has a chance of inflicting the Frozen status ailment, albeit the chance is smaller than for Deep Freeze. The number of icicles thrown increases with the spell's skill level.

- Ice Needles in the first two Star Oceans was known as Ice Needle. The plural localized name is applied in First Departure and Second Evolution, creating an error as these versions of the spell still produce only a single large icicle.
