The Fellpool (フェルプール, Ferupūru?), also referred to as the Felinefolk (フィーラインフォーク, Fiirainfuxōku?), are a recurring species in the Star Ocean series. They are a humanoid race descended from felines and the racial majority on planet Roak, home to other species like the Featherfolk and Highlanders. Fellpool are also rarely found on Expel, and are ancestors to the Expellian race.
Fellpool bear an astonishing resemblance to Humans, the only physical difference being the tails that extend from their tailbones and the greater variety of ear shapes. Some Fellpools have pointy ears, while others have cat-like ears protruding from the top of their heads. The Fellpool are also extremely curious. They have strong senses of smell and hearing, as well as powerful night vision. They can interbreed with Humans, as evidenced by the union between Eleyna Farrence and Crowe F. Almedio (whose direct descendant is Roddick Farrence).
A branch of this species is the Lesser Fellpool (レッサーフェルプール, Ressā Ferupūru?), or Ur-Felinefolk (アー・フィーラインフォーク, Ā Fiirainfuxōku?), which is a less developed type of Fellpool, being an intermediate between a cat and a human. They sometimes even have the ability to transform into cats, and may face discrimination by other Roakians for allegedly being "stupid".
Highlanders
The other branch are the Highlanders (ハイランダー, Hairandā?), who evolved from tigers. They are usually physically stronger than most races, and can be found in the Astralian Continent. They can be recognized by their darker skin and having stripes on their arms, legs and cheeks. Within the Highlander race, an uncommon branch of Black-tiger Highlanders exist, which the king of Astral belongs to.

- A sturdy, athletic race of Fellpool descended from tigers who live in great numbers on the Astralian continent. Known for extreme belligerence and a love of solitude, but also highly disciplined and self-critical, with a chivalrous side as well. Their warrior knights easily surpass those of all other races.
