Eliminate the Gerel Horde! (増殖したゲレルを殲滅せよ！, Zōshoku shita Gereru o Senmetsuseyo!?, lit. Annihilate the Propagating Gerel) is a boss event in Star Ocean: Anamnesis, being the first of its kind to be released.
Defeating the boss yields the titles 4☆ "I Love Gerels!" (ゲレル大好き！, Gereru Daisuki!?) and 5☆ "Gerels, Gerels Everywhere!" (ゲレルまみれ！, Gereru Mamire!?).
Story[]
At the bridge of the GFSS-3214F, Coro starts to panic, to which Captain says he will service Coro with some premium oil. Coro, after Evelysse observes aloud that Coro is "always out for [himself], promises to do his best to give a full report. He tells them that massive swarms of gerels and their sub-species have been sighted on several planets in the sector they are in. Unless they do something, these planets will be swarmed by the multiplying gerels, although the cause for the incident is unknown. Regardless of the Captain's dialogue options ("We better act quick before anyone gets hurt!", "Why are they swarming?", "Hey, a little extra color isn't necessarily a bad thing!"), Coro says he will change the ship's course as soon as he detects a negatively impacted planet so that the crew may engage and defeat the horde.
Through some effort, the Captain is able to clear out the horde, and Coro no longer detects any other planets being negatively impacted by gerels. Evelysse asks if he has any ideas about their origin. Coro tells them that it seems there is a nearby wormhole that the massive swarms of gerels were observed streaming through it. The Captain is surprised, but Coro says it is closed. However, unnatural distortions in the fabric of space-time are still observable; as such, the gerel swarms may be "a precursor of something yet to come". Since there are no precedents for such a phenomenon anywhere in his database, Coro says he will continue to monitor the situation as they return the ship to their previously planned course.
