The Dragon Brigade is the most influential of the three military branches of the Kingdom of Airyglyph. It outranks the Storm Brigade and Black Brigade and its captain is able to issue royal commands alongside the King. Its captain was Duke Vox, Airyglyph XII's uncle, thus granting Vox a disproportionate amount of power within the Airyglyph military.
Dictionary Entry[]
- Dragon Brigade
- One of three military branches of the Kingdom of Airyglyph, made up of flying knights mounted on air dragons.
- This small, elite mobile force mainly conducts surprise attacks and assaults on enemy encampments, as well as scouting missions that take advantage of their ability to fly.
- The three branches of Airyglyph military (Storm Brigade, Black Brigade, and Dragon Brigade) are officially equal in rank. But due to the nature of the missions assigned to Dragon Brigade, its captain is authorized to issue royal commands. So it would be no exaggeration to say that the Dragon Brigade’s captain is also the commander-in-chief of the Airyglyph military.
- Duke Vox, who is also commander-in-chief of the Peacekeeping Force, is the current captain of this brigade.
Story[]
At one point, the Dragon Brigade was captained by generations of Noxes, including Glou Nox, who died saving his son Albel during Albel's failed Accession of the Flame ceremony. Duke Vox was promoted to captain of the Dragon Brigade after Glou's death, likely representing the first non-Nox to captain it in many years.
Over the course of the party's adventure on Elicoor II, both Lord Demetrio and Schweimer at different times hold the position of Captain of the Dragon Brigade after Vox's death at the hands of the Vendeeni.
After Vox's death, one Dragon Brigade knight personally nominates Albel to captain the Brigade. However, the practicality of this is unclear, as Albel never completed an Accession of the Flame ceremony and does not have his own dragon.
