Coule (クール村, Kūru-mura?), historically known as Haute (ホット, Hotto?), is a small settlement in the middle of the Muah Continent on planet Roak. The village is located just south of Mt. Metorx, a mountain infested by Fellworms.
Once a more popular town, by S.D. 346 the town faces the mass relocation of its young population, and most of the men leave to make money elsewhere for their families.
Story[]
In S.D. 346, a mystery outbreak of high fever prompts the village's Major to ask for help to the nearby town of Kratus and its Defense Force. Martoth Chliette, the town's healer, heeds their plea and arrives at Coule to treat the victims. However, they all turn to stone and he himself is infected.
He sends a letter to his daughter Millie, Roddick Farrence and Dorne, saying that Coule is done for and they must stay away. However, Millie ignores the warnings and goes to see him anyway. She, Roddick and Dorne arrive at Coule and meet with Martoth. He then asks the youths to leave immediately and take the crying Millie by force back to Kratus. They pass by Coule again on their journey to Mt. Metorx, where they hope to find herbs that will cure the disease.
In S.D. 46, Roddick and Ilia Silvestri arrive at Haute and continue their search for their comrades, Millie and Ronyx J. Kenny. After finding that they are not in the town, Roddick and Ilia try to find a way to get into Portmith, a port town to the north. Entry into Portsmith is limited as monster assaults have been occuring regularly.
Then, they join Cyuss Warren, a Highlander adventurer on a delivery job to Portmith, and are allowed access into the town.
Layout[]
S.D. 46[]
S.D. 346[]
Although the layout remains similar to what it looked like hundred years ago, only two places can be visited: two Homes to the northeast. The northernmost building is the abode of an old man, who wonders what will become of the village the young keep leaving. The other Home is inhabited by a mother and her two children; her husband travels outside of town and will return the day after. Unfortunately, the outbreak of the stone sickness turns all of the inhabitants to stone, and only Martoth can be spoken to.
