Blood Valkyrie (血の戦乙女降臨, Chi no Sen'otome Kōrin?, lit. Blood Valkyrie's Descent) is a boss event mission in Star Ocean: Anamnesis. It was the game's first collaboration with the Valkyrie Profile franchise, also developed by tri-Ace.
Its featured playable characters are the limited-time Lenneth and Silmeria. Defeating the boss yields the titles 4☆ "Follow in Her Glory" and 5☆ "In the Gods of Creation's Image".
Story[]
The crew of the GFSS-3214F recovers a strange mirror from points unknown, only to bring it aboard for examination. Suddenly, the mirror reacts, pulling the Captain into an alternate dimension of sorts, where they are contacted by the Valkyrie Lenneth. She introduces herself as god and creator of the universe—although not the one the captain comes from.
The Captain asks where they are, to which Lenneth replies that they are in a failed attempt at universe creation by Lezard Valeth, who in an effort to stabilize the universe placed a fake version of Lenneth at the very center. However, the resulting 'homunculus' with its artificial soul wasn't up to the task. Realizing his blunder, Lezard abandoned that universe, and his creation spiraled out of control, thus engulfing the captain. Lenneth forges a path for the captain to return to Evelysse and the others through the power of the 'einherjar' that slumbers within the captain.
As the Captain comes to, he is joined by Evelysse, Coro and Silmeria on an open field. Silmeria, sensing Lenneth's hands in the matter, has the captain explain. Although Evelysse wants to confront Lezard, Silmeria says they must escape the abandoned world they are in. A path of light appears—likely conjured by Lenneth—and they follow it. On their way they face and defeat the Blood Valkyrie. A sliver of Lenneth's soul dwelling within the homunculus is then released and speaks with Silmeria. As the universe lost its foundation, it will soon meet its end. No longer a danger to all, Lenneth thanks the crew and builds a bridge to the universe they came from, bidding the crew farewell alongside Silmeria.
