The Battle Arena, also referred to as the Fighting Arena, is a entertainment feature in Gemity where players can participate in various types of battles, earning several rewards along the way. It is accessed by entering the teleporter at the city's northernmost point.
Mechanics[]
After entering the teleporter, matches are set up in a computer terminal, which prompts the player to choose a mode, select a rank, and pay the entrance fee in order to enter battle. Afterwards, after the payment, the prospective competitor is teleported into an arena identical to the top of the Kirlsa Training Facility.
The mode chosen determines the number of battles and the number of monsters per battle; Single and Team Battles have a series of five matches each, and Ranked Matches are completed one at a time. The hosts are Solon Solute and Dirna Hamilton, and they provide amusing, yet sometimes lengthy commentary. Before each ranked match, the opposing team adds some words as well.
If the player loses or chooses to escape the battle, the battle and the entry fee are forfeited, and the player is returned to the terminal. If this is due to a loss, the participants will have 1 HP/MP, depending on which stat they were incapacitated by. For each victory, the player is awarded a prize, experience, and Fol (for Single and Team Battles), or just experience and Fol (for Ranked Battles). Generally, the rewards become better as ranks get higher.
Modes[]
- Single Battle Mode
This may be the most challenging mode, because a single character must defeat five difficult monsters in a row. Prizes for D and C Rank Battles are rewarded on a one per character basis. The prizes for the B, A, and S Ranks are given to the player only once, regardless of how many times they're completed.
Rank | Enemy roster | Fee | Prize |
---|---|---|---|
D | Fire Zombie → Nova Blaze → Magma Man → Stinger → Destroyer | 100 Fol | Magical Berries |
C | Yuan-ti → Giant Moth → Incapacitator 4 → Flaming Zombie → Blood Monster | 300 Fol | Mallet Charm |
B | Giant Mantis → Death Master → Gas Dragon Zombie → Proclaimer → Chimera | 500 Fol | Bunny Shoes |
A | Vile Lizard → Yellow Reaper → Demon Beast → Dragon Corpse → Master Demon | 1000 Fol | Star Guard |
S | Nova Blaze → Masque Looter → Sharow → Huge Chimera → Render Tyrant | 5000 Fol | Imposing Scroll |
- Team Battle Mode
In Team Battle Mode, the active battle party takes on five battles in a row, similar to Single Battle, except this time monsters generally appear in groups. In most cases, the monsters are identical to the Single Battle Mode Battles. The player can win up to six compies for the D and C Rank prizes, with the prizes for the B, A, and S Ranks again given out only once.
Rank | Enemy roster | Fee | Prize |
---|---|---|---|
D | Fire Zombie x2 → Nova Blaze x2 → Ghostly Hag x1 → Magma Man → Stinger x4 → Destroyer x2 | 100 Fol | Synthesis Materials |
C | Yuan-ti x2 → Giant Moth x3 → Incapacitator 4 x3 → Flaming Zombie x3 → Blood Monster | 300 Fol | tri-Emblum |
B | Giant Mantis x3 → Aquaregia x2 → Gas Dragon Zombie → Proclaimer → Chimera | 500 Fol | Scumbag Slayer |
A | Vile Lizard x2 → Yellow Reaper x2 → Demon Beast → Dragon Corpse → Master Demon | 1000 Fol | Star Splash |
S | Aqua Wisp x3 → Masque Looter x3 → Sharow x2 → Winged Mantis → Huge Chimera x2 → Render Tyrant | 5000 Fol | Ring of Slaughter |
- Ranking Battles
The Ranking Battles make up the largest part of the arena, having the player pick a team name and advance up a ranking ladder to win. No rewards are given after each battle, except the experience and Fol from the enemies. Before a Ranked Battle begins, Solon and Dirna provide a message to the player from the opposing team, which can be either menacing, comedic, or sometimes just a series of growls.
After picking a team name (this decision affects the affection levels between Fayt and the other characters), the player is placed on the ladder at Rank #51. The player can leave and change the team members as they see fit. Winning moves the team up and losing moves the team down. Battles can be fought with any team below the player's team on the ladder, but no more than four ranks higher than their team.
