Astral (アストラル大陸, Asutoraru Tairiku?) is one of the three major continents of the planet Roak, located in its central region. It appears as a location in Star Ocean, its remake Star Ocean: First Departure, and Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Ruled by the Astral Kingdom, it is a mountainous land inhabited mostly by Highlanders.

Layout[]
- Autanim - A port town located on the northeasternmost edge of the continent; it is surrounded by the forests of the Astral Mountains. A road leading south, along the eastern coast, connects it with the central cities.
- Astral City - It is the capital of the Kingdom of Astral, and provides entry into Astral Castle, located deep within the central mountain area of the continent.
- Tatroi - Home to the Colosseum, Tatroi is located in continent's central area and is a stop for any who wish to head to Astral City, either through a cave passage, or via ferry.
- Astral Caves - An alternate route to Astral City.
- Astral Desert - A desertic area to the south of the continent, connected to the Tatroi and Tropp areas.
- Tropp - A port town located on the western coast, and the main entryway into the Astralian continent. It has commercial trade with both Silvalant to the west and Muah to the east.
- Highland Caves - Tunnels in the western area of the continent, north of the Tropp area. They lead to the plateau where the Purgatorium, a sanctum said to hold the legendary Eye of Truth heavily protected by enigmas and monsters, is located.
Gameplay[]
Appearing in the original Star Ocean and its remake First Departure, the Astralian Continent is simply like the rest of the World Map, having a number of enemies that appear via random encounters. In The Last Hope, however, it is subdivided into several maps: Northeast Astralian Continent, Tatroi Area, Astral Desert, Tropp Area, and Purgatorium Area.
