Ashlay Bernbeldt is a playable character in Star Ocean, its remake Star Ocean: First Departure, and the spin-off Star Ocean: Anamnesis. He is also an enemy in Star Ocean: The Last Hope.
Star Ocean[]
Ashlay has balanced stats, with his attack being slightly higher than the rest of his characteristics. Much like Cyuss, many of his Special Arts are shared with Roddick. He is capable of equipping one-handed swords, leather armor, and heavy armor. The Murasama is restricted to him. His movement speed is classified as fast (★★★☆).
- Recruitment
To obtain Ashlay, the player must not recruit Cyuss, then make their way to the Tatroi Arena the first time one arrives Tatroi. After speaking to Ashlay in the audience stands, one must participate, win one rank of the Tatroi Arena contest, and then make their way to the harbor. Ashlay will be there and then request to join the party.
If Ashlay is recruited, Phia cannot be recruited in the early game (she can rejoin later in the game, however). Furthermore, in First Departure he is required—along with Ioshua and Mavelle—to recruit Erys Jerand.
